Patrick
has been involved in personal safety and self-defence training for over
twenty years. He has extensive experience as a qualified mental health
practitioner and manager in psychiatric intensive care units. He has
been training nurses and other health care professionals in the prevention
and management of violence both in the NHS and private sectors.
Experienced in teaching abroad i.e Iceland, China, Macau, he has an
ongoing commitment to teach Therapeutic Management of Aggression and
Violence/Control and Restraint in Hong Kong.
Patrick has been involved in delivering two Training the Trainers Courses
for South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (validated by Salford University,
Manchester) for a number of years.
Since 1985 Patrick has held a 6th degree black belt in Choy Lee Fut
Chinese Martial Art, which is a semi-contact sport. He had been actively
promoting the sport since 1985 including the running of weekly training
classes and the production of displays and demonstrations. Patrick retired
from teaching Choy Lee Fut in 1995 in oder to focus more on the teaching
of Therapeutic Management of Aggression and Violence, but continues
to advise/support former students who themselves are now teaching the
art.
